• This week is student council week! If you participated in today's dress up theme, Freedom Friday, be sure to scan one of the QR codes around the school to upload your photo for a chance to win a prize! There will be games and other contests happening all week on the boardwalk during both lunch shifts as well as a booth to sign up to be a member of the 2023-2024 Student Council. On Friday, Kona Ice will be selling snow cones on the boardwalk.

• Lady Rebels Volleyball tryouts will be held on May 10 & 11. You will need to be at both tryouts with a completed packet and tryout fee paid. Tryout packets are located on the Volleyball page on gorebs.org. If you have any questions, email Coach Coons.

• Any girls that are interested in trying out for soccer this Spring need to go see Coach Barron in room 2201 as soon as possible to sign up for tryouts. Tryouts will be coming soon.  Make sure you see Coach Barron today!

• Lady Rebel Powerlifting tryouts will be on April 25, 2023, at 3:30 pm in the Old Gym. You will need to wear tennis shoes, a T shirt, and acceptable gym shorts. See Coach Obie Sims for more information. 

• Scholarship News:

  • The Hagan Scholarship requires applicants to have a 3.5 GPA and some other detailed requirements; however, this scholarship provides up to $7,500 per semester for up to eight semesters, and the possibility of applying for their Hagan Graduate Scholarship program too. The deadline is April 20th. 

  • Ben Caldwell Memorial Scholarship - Available to any WMHS Senior who has a 3.0 GPA, and who submits the required essay about friendship along with their application. Due Date is Friday, April 21st. 

  • The Monroe Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc is offering a scholarship for Female Seniors with a 3.0 GPA and ACT Score of 18. The Deadline is April 17th.

  • The Balanced Man Scholarship is provided by Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. This scholarship opportunity is available for all Male Students that plan on attending LSU in Fall of 2023. Applicants are NOT required to join this or any other Fraternity to apply. Four scholarships will be awarded ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 each.
